Classes for Children & Teens
MAA’s classes for children and teens offer options for beginners or young dancers training for serious study. This group of classes supports the study of ballet and modern dance.
Class days and times listed are for the 2025-2026 season which begins on August 4, 2026
Ballet II
Ages 7+
Ballet II works on and builds on class taking skills and continues the development of classical ballet core vocabulary. This class is appropriate for continued study from Ballet I and beginners. Limited to 8 students.
Thursdays 4:15 pm - 5:15 pm, $425 per semester
Ballet III
Ages 9+
Ballet III continues to develop classical ballet vocabulary with the goal of gaining firm grasp of the 7 movements of dance - plié (to bend), tendu (to stretch), relevé (to rise), glissé (to glide), sauté (to jump), elancé (to dart) and tourné (to turn). Limited to 8 students.
Mondays 4:15 pm - 5:30 pm, $500 per semester
Modern I
Ages 8+
Modern I is an introduction to modern dance. This vocabulary evolved from classical ballet at the beginning of the 20th Century. This beginner class will develop gross motor movements, introduce the technique of suspension and release and work with short choreographic phrases. It can be taken alone or as a complement to Ballet II or Ballet III. Limited to 8 students.
Wednesdays 4:15 pm - 5:15 pm, $532 per semester
Ballet IV
Ages 11+ & Adults
Ballet IV continues to develop and refine classical ballet vocabulary and is taught at an intermediate level. The focus is on building a clean classical technique that is adaptable to both classical dance and contemporary vocabularies.
Tuesdays 5:15 pm - 6:45 pm, $638 per semester
Ballet IV with Pointe
Ages 12+ & Adults
Ballet IV with Point is an intermediate classical ballet class that includes pointe work. Students taking this class must be taking at least one other ballet class per week.
Thursdays 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm, $850 per semester
Modern II
Ages 12+ & Adults
Modern II is an intermediate level modern class. It incorporates technical exercises from the great classical modern vocabularies such as Duncan, Limón and Graham. This class is best for a dancer with experience and who is taking a least one other technique class in ballet or modern during the week.
Saturdays 11:00 am - 12:30 pm, $638 per semester
